Provocative, uncommon and an unparalleled imagination is an apt description of Jaquelynne Mauvais's work. Traveling extensively throughout the world, she has studied different cultures and nature in depth and has a deep understanding and respect for the natural environment. This she instills in her work by depicting human portraits and floral subjects in a natural setting altered by her dramatic vision of color and design to articulate the subject's full vitality and personality.

Though her style is varied, she prefers brilliant tones in portrait and floral representations. One can spot her paintings from a distance by their vividness. Her human portraits are social statements.

Jaquelynne studied at Honolulu Academy of Arts and University of Hawaii. Student of major artists: Lois Pohl, Wayne Thiebaud, James Esty, Chris Rex, Joseph Rafael, Gary Pruner and Barbara Nechis.

She has exhibited at Provenance Gallery, Lahaina; European Gallery, Kona Hawaii; Gesso Gallery, Napa Valley; Cory Galleries, San Francisco; Hagar Galleries, Reno; numerous galleries in the Sacramento Valley; County and State Fairs and colleges receiving various awards.

A native Californian, Miss Mauvais is from a distinguished family. Her grandfather was the late composer, Rudolph Friml, renowned for his much loved operettas "The Vagabond King" and "Rose Marie" from which these popular song hits "Only a Rose" and "Indian Love Call" were taken. Her mother, Lucile Friml, successfully painted in oil and taught art privately for 20 years. Jaquelynne is carrying on the family's artistic traditions.
